If I Could Turn Back Time

I wanted to write this blog as a follow up my previous one about our relationship with our hair styles. As awesome as they are to us, this blog isn’t really about them, but its touches on another important issue that we desert dwellers should be aware of.

Skin care is crucial. We must all take extreme care of our skin while living in lovely Tucson, and Arizona period! As many of us know, Az is one of the highest states in our country for Skin Cancer, and the numbers seem to be, alarmingly so, rising among young people and adults in their mid to late 20’s.

Skin damage can take-up to 10 to 15 yrs to visually show up or signs to appear. In some cases of skin cancer, even sooner. But the best prevention for this is to be taught the importance of skin protection and care at an early age.

I know, I know this may sound like I’m speaking from my bedazzled soap-box here, but I feel pretty passionate about this and I tell my friends and loved ones all the time to wear sunblock and facial serums whenever possible, even on cloudy days.

I got my first “age-spot”, which is from prolonged sun exposer. What can I say, I was a kid growing me up in the 80’s. Ya know, when we actually played outside in the yard and parks. My parents would lather us with smelly, greasy sunscreen and told us to be on our way. This was in Las Vegas, NV….another desert. However, they and myself seemed to always forget my ears when it came to the sunscreen. Due to this, it wasn’t until I was 16 or 17 and I saw a dark spot on my ear. I showed my parents and we went to the Dr to get it looked at and checked out. As it turned out, he said it was an age spot from prolonged sun damage and long exposer to UV rays.

So ever since then, this face hasn’t left the house without some kind of sun product on it. Hearing “age-spot” at that tender age had its shock, horror moment of reality. As I entered into my adulthood. I made sure to take some time out and pamper myself from time to time.

When I started to go and get some spa treatments done, such as facials, I would get compliments on my skin and I was always be asked what I was doing to get such great skin. As much as genetics play a part, so to does maintenance. I can only hope that due to this religious skin regime that I am doing, that when I am 55, I will look 40…ish! WHAT?!? It could happen!

For some of you who are interested in learning more about skin care/treatments and GREAT facials should look no further but at the gentle, loving, hands of Lecia   who works at Mane Street Salon. For those who remember, that is also where Aysha works! I recently had a great facial done by Lecia!

Let me tell you guys and gals..this woman is God-sent!! Not only is she knowledgeable about her work, but she is gifted and loves what she does. And we all know people, who aren’t and can’t say the same about their jobs. She welcomes all of you beautiful people to her door. When you are lying on her table in her room, which is incredibly comfy and relaxing, Lecia will let her amazing hands to the talking and work. She will, of course, have a short and welcoming consult about your skin and such before hand.

As you lying there, she will feel for tension and problematic areas. Before she moves or continues to the next step she will always let you know what to expect and what her hands are doing. I’m not kidding, kiddos..she is amazing!! Reading my experience is one thing, experiencing this woman is another.
With summer coming, we can all use a lil relaxing, pampered moment from our daily lives of work, traffic, jury duty, protestors and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s bedroom life, etc.

Now here is the best part, her prices are as incredible as she is! Give yourself this well deserved visit with Lecia and let her do the rest. She has products available, that she herself uses everyday. She knows the Tucson sun all too well, just like the rest of us! Call and make a appt with her today. What can I say, when I find a treasure, I like to share with the ones I love. My gift of knowledge and love to you all.
