I Left My Heart…….
I Left My Heart.......

I hope this new year has found you in good health and even better spirits. I decided to start off this with the things I truly love to do. On January 1st, at 6am, I decided to do some photography at Reddington Pass. The location, weather and lighting was just right! Plus, it was exactly what I needed.

2011 was, for me, kinda a blah year. Nothing good nor bad…but nothing that really defined it for me. So this year, I’m not counting on new year’s resolutions or good intentions to make this year awesome. I will make it happen. I don’t plan on counting on a workout buddy or positive affirmations to get me through this year, I’m just going to do it. Plain and simple!

More art and more focus on health, thats all I want out of this year. As for graduation, well my school screwed me on that one and I’m now set back a whole damn year. Don’t even get me started on that one, I’ll save that rant for another blog.

I definitely want to start getting my name out in Tucson and maybe start getting some commissioned work, even some freelance stuff. But we shall see. I know that I am already working on some stuff for a exhibition in late spring. I would like to showcase it at my school and the airport. If things comes to work in my favor than I shall be most happy. Until…I’m working for what I want. And I always get what I want (cue for maniacal laugh).

I also wanted to escape the desert for a bit so I decide to visit a very close friend that i have known for almost 20yrs now. And luckily for me, he lives in San Francisco!! I love that city! I’ve have visited for several short visits in the past year. But this time, I was actually able to visit the Castro!

I marked a major milestone in my life by visiting this iconic place. The history, culture, tradition and continuing fight for equality are still prevalent there. The people…my people…were friendly, happy and proud! And I must say EVERYONE had a dog, cat or a animal of some kind on a leash. I was surprised to see the everyday zoo on the streets. You don’t see that in T-town…and I was glad for it.

The parks were amazing, the daylight hrs were filled with that intimate laughter that only the best of friends can share. Memories came back to be retold and new ones were made. Old names of people I haven’t seen or heard of in eons came up and I heard what some of them are up too these days.

The nightlife of San Francisco…was everything you could imagine it to be. I feel so blessed to have done and experienced so much with my dearest friend. I’ve read about certain places in books, or heard of them in other people’s experiences. Now I have my own tales. I will definitely be making more trips to this lovely place of no parking zones. But I will say..I can see why people leave their hearts in San Francisco.
