Gay Events on the 4th of July

Q.  Hey Mom, are there any pride events for July 4th?  – Jason N.

A. Hi Jason, thank you for your great question.  We are just finishing up with Tucson SummerPride, so Fourth of July events should start rolling in shortly.  Please check our Gay Tucson Events Calendar regularly to see the newest events, and be sure to let us know if you are ever doing anything fun; we’ll put it on the event calendar so everyone can join in!

Of course, no 4th of July would be complete without celebrating our freedom by watching some flashy explosions.  If you are in the mood for some fireworks, here are the places we recommend:

  • Downtown / West Side Tucson – The annual fireworks at “A” mountain are a sight to behold, and downtown is the perfect spot to catch them.  We recommend the parking garage at 498 W. Congress so you’ll be above some of the light pollution and get a better view of the fireworks.
  • East Side Tucson – If you are looking for something a little more relaxing, you can’t miss the fireworks display from the Botanical Gardens.
  • South Side Tucson – You’ll want to head to the Kino Memorial Stadium for the Tucson Padres July 4th Fireworks Spectacular.  The venue offers great seatling arrangements and fantastic entertainment all without breaking the bank.
  • North Side Tucson – Northsiders will want to reserve a room at the Hilton El Conquistador for their annual fireworks display and BBQ.  You’ll receive food, drinks, live music, and a 30 minute fireworks display all at discounted rates.
  • Marana – The city of Marana is hosting a movie and fireworks display for the entire family.  The movie starts at 6:00pm in Silverbell Park, with fireworks starting shortly thereafter.
  • Oro Valley – Come over to James D. Kriegh Park at 3:00pm for a full day of fun, food, and fireworks.  Admission to all events is free for your entire family.

Have a safe and fun 4th of July!

Hugs, Mom.
