Tis the season! I am finding
myself smack in the middle of holiday season. Admittedly, they come and go so quickly but I have always loved the holidays.
There is a new feeling in the air that only comes this time of year. It blows though like the wind.
I love the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, smells of pumpkins, turkeys, and Christmas trees, vacation time spent with
family and friends, delicious food only made this time of year, Christmas music playing in every retail store, new big movie
releases, and most of all holiday spirit.
Thanksgiving was made a holiday on Nov 1, 1777
“…for solemn thanksgiving and praise. That with one heart and one voice the good people may express the grateful
feelings of their hearts…”
In keeping with the spirit of Thanksgiving I thought I would write a list
of things I am thankful for in no particular order.
1. In these hard economic times, I have a good job 2. My son, and what a fantastic boy he is 3. A good cup of coffee in the morning (or a Redbull) 4.
Rain. 5. My Ipod. 6. My health 7. Tortilla
Soup that I just learned how to make 8. Days below 100 degrees 9. The close
relationships I have with my family 10. Good movies 11. Coming home to my very own house 12.
My close friends. My life would not be as meaningful without you in my life 13. My passport 14. A clean house 15. Weather nice enough to hike most of the year 16.
Knowing he is just a plane ride away 17. 2nd chances. Sometimes 3rd and 4th 18. Lazy days 19.
My favorite TV shows 20. A weekend at the beach 21. Anything I need to know I can find on th
internet. And a lot of things I don’t. 22. Everyday I learn something new 23. Lots of laughter
in my life 24. My younger friends keep me feeling young. And sometimes
old. 25. Moments when I have the clarity of thought to acknowledge that
I can’t control what happens – only how I react 26. Text
Messages 27. The closeness that social media provides with my
extended network of friends 28. Sales 29. My gym – and actually going 30. People that
can still surprise me 31. That most people are thoughtful and kind 32. That each year just keeps getting
a little better than the year before 33. I have mountain views from my
desk at work 34. Cool nights 35. My positive outlook on everything
I know I have at least
100 more things I am thankful for…. What are you thankful for?
