It's been said that seeing is believing.
But the fact is, we all have our blind spots...
Sometimes we recognize them ourselves. Sometimes others recognize
them for us...Distance has a way of distorting the things we see.
But what appears as an obstacle may in fact
be an opportunity. The trick is having enough faith to carry through. But change is hard. And people often get crippled by
thier own inability to accept it. Sometimes it is easiest staying exactly the same for as long as possible, standing perfectly
still... It feels better somehow.
And if we are suffering, at least the pain is familiar. Because if we took that
leap of faith, went outside the box, did something unexpected... Who knows what other pain might be waiting out there. Chances
are it could be even worse. We tend to dwell on the negative possibilities and lose sight of the magical ones.
So
we maintain the status quo. Choose the road already traveled and it doesn't seem that bad. Not as far as flaws go. We are
not killing anyone... Except maybe ourselves a little.
When we finally do change, I don't think it happens like
an earthquake or an explosion, where all of a sudden we're this different person. I think it's smaller than that. The kind
of thing most people wouldn't even notice unless they looked at us really, really close. Which, thank God, most never do.
Except the ones who can see into your soul. The ones you should listen to to help guide you in the right direction.
And inside you that change feels like a world of difference. And you hope this is it. This is the person you get to be forever...
that you'll never have to change again.
It's interesting that when you ask most people about their favorite book,
they always remember the end. But hardly anyone ever remembers how it all starts, where everything truly begins.
Or like a photo Album. You never see pictures of the hard times. You only see the good ones where everyone is smiling and
happy. But it is those hard times too, that get you from one great picture to the next.
Cheers, Fruit Fly
