An extravaganza it was! This weekend was the 22nd annual Jello Wrestling to raise money for Saaf (Southern
Arizona Aids Foundation).
It was a sight to be seen. Everyone from Brett Michaels and Daisy from the Rock
of Love bus to Amy Winehouse and her hubby Blake Fielder were there to get down and dirty in a big pool of cold, blue jello.
You really have not lived until you’ve seen two men rolling around in a tub full of jello.
Leave it to Tucson weather to be absolutely perfect for the event. There
was nothing but blue skies at Tucson Electric Park which is mostly known for baseball and spring training games. Typically
where you see beer bellied men throwing back a few beers and devouring a couple ball park franks was flooded with men dressed
in drag.
Tucson gives way to many great events that
promote love and unity within the community. We have the Aids Walk which rallies thousands to walk with hope and remembrance.
Gay West which brings new meaning to assless chaps and “I wish I knew how to quit you”. Pride in the Desert is a big festival that attracts thousands.
Not to mention benefits, organizations and a lot of other events to

Which brings me to a really good question, why don’t
straights celebrate? The closest thing we have is the county fair and NASCAR where all the straights gather in there
t-shirts and truckers hats.
I am just kidding, kind of… Whatever it is that we are celebrating, it
is always nice to know that we as people can make a united front to celebrate who we are and the things we love. Our lives
are shaped by the company we keep and the actions we decide to take part in.
