Holiday Letter from Ask
Mom
Dear Readers, First, let me thank you for all the positive comments.
I'm so happy you like the column. As you know, I do not know everything. As a Mom, my kids all thought/think I know everything and then there was a time when they thought they knew everything. Sound familiar???
Well, I won't go into that.
I will always try to get you an answer and sometimes, I'm sure, you don't like
my answers. I try to be gentle, in my writing, and not like Dear Abby, who has no problem telling you how the
bread is buttered. ha. And, I'm sure, that some of you already know the answer you are going to get and are not happy when you get it.Let me put it this way. We have all had our hard knocks, in life and
it is not easy. That means me, too. Boy, I could tell you some stories. LOL I know how hard it must be for
most of you. I do, because I have a gay son. I have lived it.
My husband and I accepted him,
his way of life and support him in every way possible. The entire family does We love his partner and all his
friends and we have a great time. We are a very close family and, our son, is one of the lucky ones.
I know it is not the same, for a lot of you. I don't understand parents or families turning their siblings away and
it must be the must unimaginable hurt. You have no idea, how many boys and girls have gone in and out of our home because
we are accepting or how many all over the country call us Mom and Dad. You need to find some one you can talk
to, lean on, to get help from. Please, please, get help, if you need it.
Many of you are new
to Tucson and this will be your first holiday here. I know, too, how hard it is to be alone for the holidays.
Yes, I do. Been there, done that. This
is for you all, teenager or adult. Remember the old commercial that said, Reach out and touch someone?"
Well, when you do, I bet you get touched right back. Oh, almost forgot. So many of you ask similar questions and most of them can be found
on the link of "Gay Tucson". It has everything you could ever ask for. So before you write, (unless
you want to and I am always happy to hear from you) check out the website. You'll be surprised at how much you learn. I am always here. You do not have to be alone. You can write me anytime. If
you need to talk, we can arrange that, too. Bless you all and I hope you have the best holiday's
ever. Don't
drink and drive. Mom's orders. Get a designated driver. Love
and hugs,Mom
