The College Blues
As some of you know, I am a full time college student.
Currently we are coming close to finals at my school and the pressure is on! I now realize, that I REALLY should have done this whole college thing in my
younger twenties when I had more energy and less responsibility. However, things have a way of working out the way they are
meant too. My process in life…is…what it is, I guess! How many of you are current students as well?!? I’m curious to see how many of you deal with the pressures
of life from school, work, life, etc. I know that I tend to be the one that likes to get stuff/projects done the moment I
know about them. I like to get it done now, so I can relax and play later. I learned a long time ago, not to be the one who
waits till the last minute to get it done. However, with
that said there are those who work better, or even at their best, under pressure. I know for a fact that I am not naturally
the kind of guy. Yes, there have been moments in my life where that has happened and I pulled it off by the grace of God alone.
Alas, those moments are rare to say the least.I know that
I have been trying to get through this whole college experience with the purpose of better my life for my future and family.
For three years now I have been busting my butt through classes and doing moderately well. ……UNTIL THIS TERM!!I have been
hearing from friends, family and college people “I don’t know how you’re doing it, Kris?” And frankly,
I don’t either. I have that I have been pushing through these past few yrs with a type of survival mode-way-of-thinking.
I have been tired and worn to the bone, but I always managed to get stuff done because “I got to do it.” That’s
what I have been telling myself this whole time. Now this term, I am attending classes that I need to pass in order to progress
to some upper division courses. They are not pre-req’s by any means. Just lower division classes that I need to pass
so I can move on. Its nothing too bad either just tediousness, I guess. These classes aren’t holding my interest…there
I said it. I’m must hoping to pass with some kind
of grade that will allow me to move forward. I just don’t like the subject matter, and that’s really saying something
coming from me. I love school and I love most aspects of the learning process. But these classes this term and just killing
my soul. For the first time EVER in my college career, I feel like the classes are really just wasting my time. However…I
am all too aware of the fact that I am also paying for this. So I try to stay focused and ….take in something of what
is being said. Oh well, maybe I’m just dealing with a bad case of Junior-itous. Yes,
sometime I come up with my own words and catch phrases. Look for more of those in the future. Have a lovely rest of the
week. Kris

Precious times
Hello All, I hope everyone is having a splendid week thus far. As for my self, I taught a slight bug again. So I ain’t feeling too hot right
now, but oddly enough….I’ve been told I look fine/good. Go Figure, right. Last night, I was graciously able
to have dinner with my Madre and Prima. My cousin just recently moved to Tucson. Thus far, she is loving it! As I knew she
would.
We dined at Olive Garden on Broadway and Craycroft. The wait wasn’t bad at all either. We were seated
and greeted by one of the best waiter’s I have ever experienced. His name is Leo. He was full of personality, laughter
and jokes all night. Just like the commercials say, he really did treat us like family.
Needless to say, Leo earned
himself a great tip from us. I was still not feeling too hot. So after the salad and the sinfully delicious breadsticks were
done, so too was I . It broke my heart when my beautiful $15 plate was brought to me and all I could do was nimble at
it. Oh well, it will make a great lunch later today. As
I enjoyed the company of my family; it got my thinking of the past two years. My family has recently went through a very hard
time full of personal loss and finding our faith and personal strength.
Cancer is a hated word in my family now.
In these two years we lost both my grandparents, on my mother’s side. Sadly, two months after my grandmother passed
away; my Tio Juan lost his fight with colon cancer. He was my mother’s best friend and eldest sibling of the six of
them. Needless to say, it’s hasn’t been easy. Some days are harder than others.
Overall, I knew it
was coming. I’m grateful my grandparents didn’t suffer too terribly much. My grandfather left this world
with a sense of personal class that I have never seen before. From his sense of having lived a fulfilled life, I saw a glimce
of what “old school integrity” must have been like in his day. My grandparents were very much traditional people.
I am very proud and honored to have known them. I count my blessings everyday that I had them in my life as long as I did.
I couldn’t help but to recap the past two years as we sat there and laughed and simply enjoyed being together.
It dawned on me then that it had been a while since we laughed as
hard as we did. Tomorrow isn’t always promised to us, that saying holds too true for us. As I’m sure it
does for many of your readers out there as well.
As we ta lked and laughed I observed my beautiful mother and could see many of my
grandparents traits in her. From body gestures, to personal expressions.
My Cousin also has them as well. I wondered what similar traits they
see in me from them. Ok, that’s enough sharing for one night.
Take care all! Kris

Who's Kris?
Hello everyone!I’m very happy to introduce myself to you readers! My name is Kris. I just landed myself a great learning opportunity
with Tony Ray, who will be showing me some of the ropes in the visual communications realm. During this internship I will
be blogging, doing various types of photography and doing some web design for GayTucson.com.Like most people, when it comes to talking about themselves; I don’t know really what to where to start. So
figured I may as well start from the beginning of it all. (
cue for fade to black w/ dramatic music playing in the background: to reveal an abandoned home in the middle of the woods
on an isolated hill. In the background, a dark foreboding storm looms near ) This is where it all began….My life: Day one…Just kidding! I can proudly say that I have lived in
Tucson now for 17yrs. I moved here from Las Vegas, NV with my older brother and my mother and 2nd father. Yes, I have two
dads. We came here just at the beginning of our High School yrs. I’m very glad for that too. I remember the High Schools in Las Vegas being worst then
the middle schools. When I was attending Jr. high, we didn’t haven’t volunteer parents as hall monitors….we
had COPS! But Vegas was a different place then. Thankfully it has cleaned up, somewhat, and that dark time is in the past.
My older brother now resides back in Las Vegas.
For me though, as soon I step off that plane onto Tucson soil…I
knew I was home.Since then, this wonderful town and taught
me a great deal about the world and myself. I count myself blessings everyday for that! I’ve made wonderful life long
friends and have seen many changes around town since then. Here are some random facts about me:I’m a VirgoI
have an intense disliking to any and all things lemonI’m
both introverted and extraverted….just depends on the surrounds and people.I love to cook!I have a great love and passion for
the creative and performing artsI secretly sing….(something
I have been slowly sharing with others)I’m a movie buff….big
time!!I’m a dog person 100%!Presently, I find myself in my junior yr of College, at The Art Center Design College.
30, single and building the foundation of what I hope, plan, dream, expect to be a long and happy career as a Graphic Designer
w/ multi-media talents! In my blogs I will be sharing my
experiences of Tucson and of our community here. Just might as well give you all a heads up now, I’ll be that
annoying latin guy with the camera taking tons of pictures. Yupe, I’ll be THAT guy. But don’t fret too much. I’ll
always ask to take your picture and may even ask you some impromptu questions about something or everything. Please
feel free to respond, write, and comment on anything I have shared here. I love feedback from you all.I hope this is a beginning of a happy blogging experience. Well everyone, I’ll be seeing you around!Blessings,Kris
