I am finally back from my eurotrip!
It Already HappenedI am finally back from my eurotrip! As fond as I am of the people and places I had the opportunity to visit, I feel
right back at home under the sun. When I stepped off the plane, I didn't turn my phone on for 2 days. My electronics feel like pithy objects in my life. Ironically, I am
blogging- But it was refreshing to be disconnected for a little while. I felt much more connected with myself, and I have
needed that experience for quite some time.Taking a step
back, I was able to see life from a different perspective. I learned so much about how I live it. In all honesty, I tend to
make situations unnecessarily complicated. Making your life simple is the most simplistic thing to do, but we make it difficult
for ourselves. Being pessimistic about life's disappointments gets you no where.
The thing is, the face of every
stage will change. Bread that would have made a delicious sandwich turns to mold over time. The person you confided in years
ago and consider to be a best friend may have changed and may not be a person who could understand what you need to express
anymore. While these changes can be viewed as tragedies,
I have found it important to appreciate the here and now. You can't change the past. When it comes down to it, you are okay,
as am I. It may not be the "okay" you expected, but that doesn't mean it is any less wonderful.
When
I was in Europe, I ran into a few frightening situations, and while I could carry that loss of control with me, I feel empowered
knowing that IT ALREADY HAPPENED. I got through it and it got me to where I am today. Why complicate the present with the
past? If we do, we can't really live in the moment.Upon
my return, I realized that everything that is so different really hasn't changed. I wrote a friend, who has been having relationship
issues, and that is my sore spot. But I believe that I gave her good advice and I would like to share it with you. Here it
goes:"You'll be in love till you're not. And when
you realize you aren't and you are holding to an excess of desire- that will be the saddest day.
It will be they
day it becomes a bit harder to take out the trash. But that is also the day you find the subliminally colorful you. Then you
can find someone to hold your breath when life gets heavy and skip beats across your heart till it sends ripples to your toes.
In the meantime, remember, you will reach the balcony
only by taking one step at a time. One after another. Once in a while, you'll hit the next floor- a plateau. But more stairs
spiral around the corner, you just have to carry the endurance to want to find them.
The most existential of people
cannot find the simplicity in making their own lives more simple. All your memories, the good and the bad, have already happened.
Detach your mind from the non-existent because it is not worth dwelling on. I wish someone had told me that two years ago. It took me that long. I'm sure they did and I listened but didn't
really hear what they had to say.Everything I just wrote,
I learned in Europe. That is how I have grown. But I didn't need to fly over a big lake to figure it out. All of the answers
I found in myself."If you relate to this, you may

Long Time No Blog
I admit I have ditched my blog. I’m just
having way too much fun. I don’t know where to start.
I flew into Paris and traveled around Italy, Greece, Austria…
and now I have ended up in Holland. I got to be here when they won their match against Brazil in the World Cup!I have found a few secrets while I was here. Do any of you go to
Club Crawl downtown? Well, here they have Pub Crawl and it is a much larger event orchestrated by the Universities.
The shopping is wonderful here. Probably because it is European and seems chic compared to what I’m used to. While
I was walking around Amsterdam yesterday, I saw at least 3 gay bars and/or clubs! I have stayed in gay-friendly places so
far. While I was in Venice, I found a rose through the
door handles of my hotel! I saved it and pressed it. How romantic?!I am staying in a youth hostel, The Flying Pig, in one room with 35 other people. There is a lounge room with couches
and beds where everyone hangs out (without shoes) and plays cards… and other such things.
There is a sign
at the entrance that reads, “Home is in your head.” I do believe that home is where the heart is, but I can roll
with it. While I am here, I’m making myself at home and it is the best way to see the city. My new favorite snack is a grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes. Oh my goodness!
Delish! I took a leap of faith and tried some new foods and I can’t believe how good they are! Nothing like homemade
tamales, but croissants you could die for. People will rant and rave about the concoctions and I am about to join that group.
If any of you conspire with the transportation system
in Tucson, you should talk to someone in Europe. There are cheap trams and busses that ta ke you everywhere. Not just in one city, across countries. I would say that
it is very energy efficient. Then again, the industries and large buildings might make up for the pollutants.I’m about ready to catch some breakfast, but I have a few tips for
travel in Amsterdam.
Don’t make plans. Go with the
flow. Don’t book hotels. Travel around and find a cool place to stay. I am finding a new place every night for inexpensive
prices. Talk to the locals and ask about what is happening while you are visiting.
The tourist attractions are
great- but I enjoyed talking it easy as well. Biking is my favorite mode of transport. You can just rent a bike for a day
or a couple of hours and go where you please. My vacation is all about relaxing and having fun.I can’t get enough of Europe, but there really is no place like home. I miss you all in Tucson! I’d like
to get caught up on more events that are coming up so I can jump right into the swing of things when I come back. Please submit
any public events on our site for FREE at [link]. “One good thing about music, when it hits- you feel no pain”peace.love.ariana.
